You can locate trailheads near you (or any Bay Area location) and the website or mobile app can help you get there on public transportation or get the directions you need to walk, bike, or drive there. There are even incentives such as free public transit tickets being offered through the Contra Costa Spare the Air Resource Team for community groups. |

New Solar Homes Partnership Program
The NSHP began in 2007 and is part of the California Solar Initiative, a comprehensive statewide solar program. The NSHP provides rebates to encourage the installation of eligible solar energy systems on energy efficient new homes and residential buildings. There is currently a waiting list, but homes are being upgraded as funding becomes available. More information can be found at http://www.gosolarcalifornia.org. |

Tie For July
Congratulations to Tracy and Chula Vista for becoming the newest Cool California Cities!
The race was neck and neck, the points were close, and the photo finish declared a tie. During Phase 2, which runs through March, the four cities will compete for the title of “Coolest California City.” No matter where you live, keep uploading your energy bills and vehicle miles traveled--you still have a chance to win prizes from your city! |

Do Your Friends Know How Green You Really Are?
You’ve been uploading your energy bills for months and you’ve earned lots of points for your city. You should get some recognition for your green actions! Log into your Challenge account and click on the “Privacy” tab. Change your privacy settings to “Everyone” to make your username, first name, picture, and points public. You’ll be able to show off to friends in your city and encourage them to compete with you, too. |
