The Challenge Masses Say, "No More GHGs!" May 31st is the last chance to earn points for your city for the month of May! The winning city in May will be named a "Cool California City" along with only two other cities for the months of June and July.

San Jose Cool Challenge Update

	Help San Jose Win this Statewide Competition! Green Energy Match (GEM) is a program sponsored by the City of San José that rewards residents for saving energy at home. Save 5% or more on your utility bill and earn 70%‐off coupons to local businesses! All San José residents who enter the GEM program will be automatically entered into the CoolCalifornia Challenge. GEM is a win-win-win: it saves residents money, supports local businesses and strengthens our community. Sign up now at www.GreenEnergyMatch.org

	Want tips on how to save energy? Get them sent right to your phone, just text ENERGY to 68398. 	Bike to Work Day, everyday in San José View the video to hear from volunteers first-hand who hosted Bike to Work Day in downtown San José earlier this month and learn about why it is important to continue biking throughout the year.

	Claim your Kudo Points! Don’t miss out! Whether you use your bike, the bus, or the train to travel, simply share your story and photograph for extra points!

	Free Public Transit Directions Have you ever wanted to take the bus or train, but didn’t know the schedule? Transit-savvy greenies know to use one of many free transit planning tools. Earn up to 1,200 points in ONE month by switching a daily 5-mile trip from car to transit! Visit Google’s transit directions as an example.

	Don't Forget to Report Energy Use for May! Log In to report your electricity, natural gas, and vehicle odometer readings now!

	Earn Green Points or Bonus Points! Are you greener than the standard for similar households in your city? You'll earn Green Points if your household uses energy & gas more efficienctly than the average household of the same size in your city.
