Sacramento Residents are... CUTTING THEIR CUBES!
We built a very large cube to show how much climate-changing CO2 the average Sacramentan generates in a year (10 of these). The goal is to cut our cubes. What’s the connection between Cut Your Cubes and the CoolCalifornia Challenge? Cut Your Cubes is Sacramento’s very own long-term campaign to reduce our carbon emissions. The CoolCalifornia Challenge, which will end in March, is one project of Cut Your Cubes. The Challenge is a fun competition with other cities and, as you rack up points, you not only have more chances to win prizes but so does the City…we’ve already won $11,000 for Sacramento’s carbon-cutting efforts! |

Tip of the Week: Let the Sun Dry Your Clothes
Dryers are energy hogs. One of the best and easiest ways to save energy (and money) is to line dry your clothes (or use an indoor drying rack). Don’t like crunchy towels? Add ½ cup of vinegar to the load and the clothes will be softer. |

Sign up Your Friends!
Sacramento is in 4th place but you can help us move up in the CoolCalifornia ranks by logging in your energy bills and odometer readings once a month (remember, you can go all the way back to March). And sign up a friend, co-worker, or neighbor. Each sign-up is worth 100 points and logging your energy use can give you 1000’s of points. How high can you go?
