Announcing this week’s raffle prize winner!

This week’s raffle prize winner is Jan! The prize is the LED bulb that recently won the U.S. Department of Energy “L-Prize” for energy efficiency. Valued at $50, this bulb uses only 10 watts, but has the brightness output of a 60 watt incandescent. It’s dimmable, produces soft white light, and is rated to last 27.4 years.

How to Earn Points in the CoolCalifornia Challenge
Green Points
  • Monthly points for using less energy at home, or having lower household vehicle mileage, when compared to similar households.
  • 1 point per 1 lb of CO2 reduced
  • Measured against electricity, natural gas, and vehicle mileage benchmarks for average household of your size.
Bonus Points
  • Extra points each month for improving on your own previous performance in the Challenge.
  • Triple bonus points for every 1 lb of CO2 reduced below your average personal benchmark of combined previous monthly reporting, for each category (electricity, natural gas, and vehicle mileage).
  • If more than 20% reduction below average, personal benchmark, bonus points are quadruple instead of triple.
Kudo Points
  • Signing up for the Challenge = 100 points (automatically)
  • Inviting/referring a friend = 20 points per sign up
  • Uploading a photo = 50 points (e.g. May Is Bike Month: upload photo of yourself riding your bike)
