It's August and that means it is time again...
...to log those utility bills and odometer readings. It is also time to invite more of your neighbors and friends to join the Challenge. As Davis enters Phase II, the competition is heating up. If we want to stay the Coolest City we need more people joining the competition.
It is also time to get busy with reducing our carbon footprint beyond our current activities. This is how we earn the most points. You can help in these fun ways:
· Update your CoolCalifornia profile so you are more visible to other participants and start sharing what you are doing.
· Join us on the Cool Davis Facebook page and tell us what you are doing via Twitter (@cooldaviscity).
· Post a challenge to the rest of the Davis CoolCalifornia Challenge participants by emailing newseditor@cooldavis.org.
· Share ideas that are working for you and your household by emailing newseditor@cooldavis.org.

How Cool Is Your House?
This month we are emphasizing Home Improvements to reduce your cooling and energy use. If you are looking for a list of projects that can make the biggest difference and the rebates available to get them done -- check out Energy Upgrade California. You can also check out these tips for keeping cool.
If you have already completed an energy upgrade this year, and you are enjoying that lower utility bill, send us your story and pictures of your project to newseditor@cooldavis.org. We may feature you here and on our Cool Davis website, www.cooldavis.org.

The Cool Davis Initiative is a network of Davis residents, community organizations and businesses committed to implementing the City of Davis’ Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. Our mission is to inspire our community to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to a changing climate, and improve the quality of life for all! By 2015 we seek to engage 75% of Davis households in significant (15%) greenhouse gas reductions. The Cool California Challenge is one of the ways households can start on the path to significantly changing their carbon footprint.
